CHICAGO — A 14-year-old boy is dead and a man is in critical condition after a shooting on the city's Southwest Side.Chicago police say the deadly shooting happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3500 block of West 61st Place in Chicago Lawn. Officers say the 14-year-old boy suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. GLENVIEW, ILL. — Emergency were called to the scene after a crash involving a school bus in Glenview.The crash happened on Tuesday afternoon, near Buckingham Glen Circle & Greenwood Road and involved two vehicles and a school bus.SkyCam9 was over the scene around 4:30 p.m. when crews could be seen working the crash. Man fatally struck by car while allegedly fleeing from police on West Side The bus involved had Alltown markings on its side, which is a bus service that provides the majority of bus transportation for students in District 34. Glenview police said no children were on board the bus and added that the bus was parked at the time of the crash. RIVERDALE, Ill. — Police are asking for help identifying a woman who was found dead after a structure fire in the south suburbs over the weekend.According to Riverdale police, officers were called to the scene of the fire just before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. After the officers arrived, they found the body of a woman who they say had been set on fire. DENVER (KDVR) — At 30 years old, a Colorado man found himself fighting for his life after being shot four times while trying to stop a teen from carrying a gun onto a school campus.Back in October, Angelo Duran was picking up his fourth-grade son from the Rocky Mountain Prep Southwest elementary school in Denver. ISABELLA, Minn. — A company eyeing helium extraction in northeastern Minnesota’s Duluth Complex is planning on more exploratory drilling this winter in hopes of confirming what a 2011 sample found: North America’s second-highest concentration of helium.The so-called “appraisal borehole” will be drilled next to the hole sunk 12 years ago by a drill crew looking for copper, nickel and other metals between Cleveland-Cliffs’ Peter Mitchell Mine and Isabella.In doing so, the crew accidentally discovered a pocket of gas 1,800 feet underground. RED WING, Minn. — A warrant was issued for a 37-year-old Minneapolis man accused of dognapping five French bulldogs and holding them for ransom, according to new charges filed in Goodhue County.Mikiyel Deshone Patton is charged with felony theft with the intent to restore only for a reward. No court date has been set.According to the criminal complaint:The dog’s owner called the Cannon Falls Police Department on Dec. 2, to report that Patton had stolen the puppies, valued at $15,000 each, while she slept.The complaint claims Patton put the puppies in a backpack earlier that morning and left her residence.
